All About Me

Ruth Marsiliani is a Myofunctional Therapist, Neuroscientist and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU College of Dentistry. She is also a national and international speaker on sleep apnea and Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders to both dental and medical professionals. She is active in research in infant sleep, cognitive and motor development, and obstructive sleep apnea in children and adults. Most recently, she presented her research at the International Conference for Infant Studies. In addition to her work as a researcher, Ruth co-authored a chapter in Sleep Disorders in Pediatric Dentistry and published in the Journal of Genetic Psychology. Her specialization in Myofunctional Therapy was achieved through the comprehensive courses taken at the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (AOMT) and the International Association of Orofacial Myology. She has also taken advanced Myofunctional Therapy courses in South America and Europe. She holds International Master's in Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders. Her Neuroscience background includes observations in sleep, implementing and reading actigraphy, sleep behavior of infants, and reading sleep studies. Ruth was trained by the world-renowned Patrick McKeown in Buteyko/ Breathing Re-education and was the first Buteyko Fellow in NYS. Ruth is a founding member of the Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences, a Fellow of the Buteyko Professional International, and a past faculty of the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.
